Lieutenant General Apaphia Modise and her co-chairpersons are to set out the security cluster's operational readiness for the 2026 Local Government Elections at a 14:00 briefing.
Mpumalanga’s security cluster leadership briefs the media in White River on Tuesday afternoon on its operational readiness for the 2026 Local Government Elections.
Lieutenant General Apaphia Modise, chairperson of the Mpumalanga Provincial Joint Operational and Intelligence Structure, is to lead the briefing alongside her co-chairpersons at 14:00 at the Anew Hotel. The structure said they will outline the security measures in place to ensure a safe and peaceful local government election in the province.
Colonel Mavela Masondo is handling attendance for the briefing.
The South African Police Service announced the briefing, but did not release details of the measures themselves, the number of officers to be deployed, or which municipalities are regarded as priority areas. Those specifics are expected at the briefing.
No date has been given for any further security announcement ahead of the elections.
