Police helicopter to sweep Free State polling stations on election day
The province's top cop, Lieutenant General TS Lesia, will fly to polling stations across the Free State to check readiness and security as voters cast their ballots.
Free State police will put their provincial commissioner in the air on election day, with Lieutenant General TS Lesia set to depart by helicopter for polling stations across the province.
In a statement posted on its official X account, the South African Police Service said Lesia would be accompanied by the Divisional Commissioner: Financial Management Services. The purpose given is to assess operational readiness, monitor the situation on the ground and ensure polling stations are adequately equipped and resourced for a smooth and secure electoral process.

The post was tagged to the 2026 local government elections and to safety and security, and carried two photographs.
It did not say which polling stations are on the route, how many will be visited, or what would happen if a station were found short of resources. Those details were not provided in the statement.
