Gauteng rolls out show of force in Mayfair as voters go to the polls
SAPS, the SSA and the SANDF will stage a joint security display at Arthur Block on Tuesday morning, with the E2 Initiative also taking part.
Gauteng’s police, intelligence and defence structures will stage a joint show of force in Mayfair on Tuesday morning as voting in the 2026 local government elections continues.
The Gauteng Provincial Joint Operational and Intelligence Structure, known as ProvJoints, has called media to the display at Arthur Block in Mayfair for 09:00 on Tuesday, 3 November 2026. The event is scheduled to begin at 09:30.
ProvJoints is co-chaired by the province’s police commissioner, Lieutenant General Tommy Mthombeni, alongside the State Security Agency and the South African National Defence Force. The structure says the exercise demonstrates the province’s preparedness and its commitment to maintaining law and order, safeguarding communities and creating a safe and secure environment for voters, political parties, candidates and other electoral stakeholders.
The display will bring together several law enforcement agencies, including the Eyes and Ears initiative run through Business Against Crime South Africa.
SAPS announced the event on its official account on X.
