A 20-year-old man accused of raping a 12-year-old girl has been arrested at Finale Trust village in the Hoedspruit policing area, Limpopo police said.

The South African Police Service (SAPS) said the arrest took place on Thursday, 5 November 2026 during an intelligence-driven operation by members of the Phalaborwa Detectives Unit and the Hoedspruit Crime Prevention Unit.

According to the police account, the operational team spotted the suspect hiding in an abandoned house in the village during surveillance. Officers surrounded the house and arrested him there.

He is expected to appear before the Hoedspruit Regional Court soon on a charge of rape. Police said investigations are continuing.

The statement was issued by the office of the Provincial Commissioner in Limpopo. Colonel Malesela Ledwaba is named as the enquiry contact.

This report is based on the SAPS media statement, which summarises the operation rather than setting out the full case record. The suspect has not been convicted and the charge against him is an allegation that will be tested in court.
