Stabbing at Nkambako school gate: suspect caught at hospital while seeking treatment
Limpopo police say a 26-year-old man is expected in the Nkowankowa Magistrate's Court on Tuesday on an attempted murder charge after a 37-year-old was found stabbed near a primary school.
A 37-year-old man is in hospital with multiple stab wounds after he was found lying in a pool of blood at Nkambako village, next to a primary school, on Sunday morning.
Limpopo police say the stabbing happened at about 07:00 on Sunday 11 October 2026. Officers on patrol duties received a complaint about an attempted murder in the area and found the victim on the ground with stab wounds to his upper body and legs.
He was taken to the local hospital by Emergency Medical Services and is admitted there for treatment.
According to the police account, preliminary investigations indicate the man had been involved in a fight with a known 26-year-old male suspect, who allegedly stabbed him with a sharp object and then fled the scene on foot.
Police opened a case of attempted murder and activated a manhunt. The 26-year-old was arrested the same day, Sunday 11 October 2026, while he was seeking medical assistance at the local hospital. Police say they confiscated the sharp object allegedly used in the attack during the arrest.
The suspect is expected to appear before the Nkowankowa Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday 13 October 2026 on a charge of attempted murder.
Police investigations are continuing.
The account is carried in a media statement issued by the office of the Provincial Commissioner in Limpopo, credited to Colonel Malesela Ledwaba. The statement is a police summary of the incident and the arrest rather than the case docket, so the detail it sets out is the police version of events as it stands.
