SASSA has moved its November 2026 social grant payment dates, with older persons set to be paid from Friday, 30 October, ahead of the Local Government Elections on 4 November.

Under the revised schedule, disability grants are paid on Monday, 2 November, and the child grant on Tuesday, 3 November. Thursday, 5 November is set aside specifically for beneficiaries whose grants fall within the review process.

The change matters to the households that plan a month around the payment date, and to the paypoints, banks and retailers that absorb the money on the day it lands. SASSA said the revised dates followed consultations with various stakeholders to ensure grant payments continue to be administered efficiently and securely during the election period. National Treasury approved the revised schedule, clearing the way for it to be implemented.

SASSA said it “remains committed to ensuring that eligible beneficiaries receive their grants in an orderly and reliable manner”.

The agency urged beneficiaries whose grants are under review to respond to official communication and attend review appointments when requested. It also cautioned beneficiaries against rushing to SASSA offices unnecessarily, saying payments will be processed according to the announced schedule.

Beneficiaries have been encouraged to use SASSA’s official communication channels for accurate information and to guard against misinformation and disinformation about social grants.

SASSA said the revised arrangements are aimed at safeguarding the integrity of the social assistance system while ensuring continued access to grants for millions of South Africans who depend on the support.

This report is drawn from SAnews (South African Government News Agency), the government’s own news summary of the SASSA statement, at https://www.sanews.gov.za/south-africa/sassa-revises-november-grant-payment-dates-ahead-elections-0. The underlying SASSA statement and the Treasury approval were not supplied to The Enquirer, so the agency’s reasoning is carried here as SAnews reports it rather than as the full record.
