Tony Yengeni takes MK Party's local election pitch to Newzroom Afrika
The uMkhonto weSizwe Party's second deputy president was billed for a Monday morning broadcast on the 2026 local government elections, with the party urging supporters to tune in.
The uMkhonto weSizwe Party sent its second deputy president, Tony Yengeni, onto Newzroom Afrika on Monday morning to make the party’s case for the 2026 local government elections.
The party announced the appearance on its own account, billing it for 07:40 on Monday 2 November 2026 and asking supporters to listen in. It published the notice with a photograph and the hashtag #VoteMKP alongside #LGE2026.
The party gave no detail of what Yengeni would say, and the announcement carried no statement of policy, no candidate and no ward. What it establishes is that the party has put one of its senior office bearers on a national morning broadcast with the local elections as the subject, and that it wants that heard.
That is the whole of the public record contained in the party’s notice. The Enquirer has no account of what was said in the interview beyond the party’s own description of the topic.
