The MK Party has told eThekwini residents it understands the problems they live with and asked them to give it a chance to govern, saying it would need 48 hours to show what it can do.

The appeal was carried in a broadcast by eNCA (YouTube), in which a speaker for the party addressed residents directly about conditions in the municipality.

The speaker said the problems residents face today are the same problems that have persisted for 32 years, and that the people who have held a track record of governing are the ones who have been unable to resolve them.

Experience, the speaker argued, is not the issue. The speaker said the people the party is up against are highly experienced and some are highly educated, and that the problems have remained regardless.

“I understand what is happening here. I have the heart for the people,” the speaker said, adding that the party knows exactly what it needs to do once it is in government.

The speaker asked residents to vote for the MK Party and to judge it on what it can deliver in 48 hours.

No detail was given in the broadcast on which specific services or interventions the party would act on first, and no timeline beyond the 48-hour claim was set out.

eNCA (YouTube) published the broadcast on 11 October 2026. The original video can be viewed at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vjVKCU3TJgA.
