Man stabbed to death at Polokwane park as argument between party members turns fatal
A 35-year-old suspect is due in the Polokwane Magistrate's Court on Friday after police recovered a knife at the scene opposite Florapark Comprehensive School.
Polokwane police have arrested a 35-year-old man in connection with the murder of a 31-year-old man who was stabbed at a park opposite Florapark Comprehensive School in Polokwane on Thursday, 05 November 2026.
The stabbing happened at about 05:00. According to the South African Police Service (SAPS), the victim was among a group of people relaxing at the park when an altercation broke out between two individuals who allegedly belong to the same political party.
The initial confrontation was reportedly resolved. The suspect allegedly returned to the scene, confronted the second man and produced a knife with which he stabbed him in the neck before fleeing.
Emergency Medical Services were called and the victim was declared dead at the scene.
Police attended and recovered a knife suspected to have been used in the stabbing. The suspect was traced and arrested.
SAPS says the motive behind the incident is unknown and that investigations continue.
The suspect is expected to appear before the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court on Friday, 06 November 2026, facing a charge of murder.
