SANDF says military health service is carrying a double load at Exercise VUKUHLOME V
The defence force's own account says the South African Military Health Service is covering frontline healthcare and sports duties during the exercise.
The South African National Defence Force says its military health branch is carrying two jobs at once during Exercise VUKUHLOME V, with the South African Military Health Service (SAMHS) presented as representing both frontline healthcare and sports excellence at the exercise.
The defence force posted the description on its official X account on 5 November, alongside four photographs, and described the arrangement as a “vital double mandate”.

That is the force’s own account of the role SAMHS is playing in the exercise. The post does not set out the size of the deployment, where the healthcare work is being done, which units are involved or what the sports component consists of, and none of those details are established by the material the defence force has released.
Exercise VUKUHLOME V is the name the defence force gives the activity in its post. The statement does not describe its scale, duration or location.
The Enquirer has reported the post as the public record of what the defence force says about the exercise.
