Cape Town's social media desk signs off for the night and points residents to the phone numbers that still answer
The City's X account closed for the day with its usual contact list, leaving the emergency lines and the app as the routes that stay open after hours.
The City of Cape Town’s social media team has signed off for the day. In a post on X on Monday, the City’s account told followers it would be back online tomorrow and pointed residents to the channels that remain open in the meantime.
For help, the City gave its general number, 0860 103 089, and directed residents to its app, with separate links for Apple and Android devices. For emergencies it listed 021 480 7700 for callers on a cellphone and 107 from a landline.
The post carried a photograph and the City’s #OneCityTogether tag.
Nothing in the post indicates a service interruption or a change to any of those numbers. It is the account’s routine close of business, and it leaves residents with the same after-hours routes they use whenever the social media desk is offline: the call centre, the app and the emergency line.
