Three suspects, aged between 25 and 44, were arrested in Northam in the Waterberg District on Saturday, 17 October 2026, after police found a large quantity of dagga, an unlicensed firearm and ammunition at a house in Block 7.

According to the South African Police Service (SAPS) statement from the Office of the Provincial Commissioner Limpopo, the two South African nationals and a female foreign national from Eswatini were arrested after police received information about three suspects who had allegedly offloaded bags of dagga at the house and were selling the substance.

A team made up of members of Northam Vispol, the Zone 1 Task Team, Northam Detectives and Northam Rural Safety went to the identified house and conducted a search. During the search, police discovered more than 30 five-litre bags containing dagga with an estimated street value of R15,000, one unlicensed firearm, ammunition and an undisclosed amount of cash.

The three suspects are expected to appear before the Northam Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 19 October 2026, facing charges relating to the possession of dagga and the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

SAPS said police continue to intensify operations aimed at combating drug-related crimes and removing illegal firearms from circulation in the province.

The statement was issued by Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba. The full statement is available at https://www.saps.gov.za/newsroom/msspeechdetail.php?nid=71941.
