Pastor and wife dump bail, third accused fights to get out as court waits
A self-proclaimed pastor and one of his two wives walked away from bail on their first court appearance, while the remaining accused will learn next week whether she gets out.
A self-proclaimed pastor and one of his two wives abandoned their bail applications when they appeared briefly in the Atteridgeville Magistrate’s Court, while the remaining accused is still seeking bail.
The case against the three was postponed to 23 October for consultation, according to SABC News, which was at the court.
The first accused, who is the pastor’s first wife, is applying for bail. The second and third accused, the pastor and his other wife, have told the court they are not asking to be released.
People following the matter at court said they hoped the first accused would also drop her bail bid, and the question left hanging outside the courtroom is whether the magistrate will grant it when the case resumes next week.
The court has not yet ruled on her application.
