One arrest, four fines: Frankfort roadblock finds little as festive season patrols begin
Police from Mafube, Villiers, Tweeling and Cornelia stopped vehicles in Frankfort on Thursday 29 October, searching for drugs, stolen goods, stock theft, illegal firearms and immigration offences.
Police from four Free State stations stopped vehicles in Frankfort on Thursday 29 October, searching drivers and passengers for drugs, stolen goods, stock theft, illegal firearms and contravention of the Immigration Act.
The roadblock was mounted jointly by members from Mafube, Villiers, Tweeling and Cornelia as part of the police service’s Safer Festive Season awareness campaign, which SAPS describes as aimed at raising community awareness of safety over the festive period.
One person was arrested and four traffic fines were issued. About 100 educational crime awareness pamphlets were distributed among motorists and passengers.
SAPS announced the operation on its official X account on 2 November, publishing four photographs from the scene.
