Cape Town's social media desk signs off for the night, with the phone lines still open
The City's official X account told residents its team would be back online tomorrow and pointed them to its call centre, app and emergency numbers in the meantime.
The City of Cape Town’s social media team has signed off for the day. In a post on its official X account on Thursday, the City said its team would be back online tomorrow and directed residents who need help in the meantime to its other channels.
Residents can call 0860 103 089, or use the City’s app, which is available for Apple and Android devices. Emergencies go to 021 480 7700 from a cellphone or 107 from a landline.
The post carried the hashtag #OneCityTogether and a photograph. It gave no reason for the sign-off and no date for when the account would resume.
The notice is routine. It also sets out, in the City’s own words, which doors remain open when its social media desk is closed, and which number a resident should dial when the matter cannot wait until morning.
