Vodacom World puts R150,000 in prizes behind Comic Con Africa stand

Vodacom World will take a stand at Comic Con Africa 2026 and put R150,000 in guaranteed prizes behind it, with a R599 spend or a Comic Con deal upgrade earning shoppers a place in the draw.

The operator’s retail arm will be at stand E522 in Hall 5 when the show runs from 24 to 27 September. Visitors who qualify can play World of Collectables, the in-store game that carries the prize pool. MyBroadband reported the stand details and the deal list on 17 September.

The prize list runs from laptops to consoles to scooters. An Apple MacBook Neo and an Acer Aspire Lite i5 are among the headline items, alongside HomePods, a PS5 Digital Edition and a Nintendo Switch 2. Xiaomi electric scooters, Samsung smartphones, Honor wearables, tablets and data bundles fill out the rest of the pool.

What the R599 buys

The entry threshold is the point of the promotion. A shopper who spends R599 at the stand, or who upgrades to one of the Comic Con deals, gets into the game. Every prize in the pool is guaranteed, which means the draw is not a single headline giveaway with a long tail of nothing behind it.

Vodacom World is also running a separate set of device deals at its own store, and those run longer than the show. They open on 8 September and close on 6 October 2026, and they are available only at the Vodacom World store.

Ten deals are on the table. The largest screen in the group is a 65 inch Hisense 4K UHD television at R539 a month over 36 months. The Huawei nova 15 Max sits at R399 a month on a 1GB Red Core Unlimited plan with 1GB anytime data, unlimited minutes, a once-off 30GB and a pair of Huawei Freebuds SE4 that carry a R1,499 value.

The Honor X9d bundled with an Honor X7d 5G comes in at R669 a month on the same Red Core Unlimited package, with a gift box valued at R499. A Samsung Galaxy S25FE with 256GB of storage is R499 a month on Red Core Unlimited, and the new vivo V70 FE is R599 a month with a vivo gift box that includes a cover, a Riro Watch and Riro Buds.

Two Redmi 17 handsets on one line cost R649 a month over 36 months. Two Oppo A5 5G handsets cost R429 a month, both on Red Core Unlimited with 30GB once-off.

On the tablet side, an Apple iPad A16 with an 11 inch Wi-Fi screen is R449 a month over 36 months on 15GB of data split between 7.5GB anytime and 7.5GB Night Owl, and the package includes a MiFi router.

The cheapest line in the ten is a Motorola g37 5G at R219 a month on a Red Flexi 170 package, which carries R170 in airtime value and a once-off 30GB. The bundle adds a Moto Watch Fit and Riversong AI Buds, which the deal values at R2,548. The same handset is available prepaid at R4,999.

Where and when to go

The Vodacom World store trades from 08:30 to 17:30 from Monday to Friday, from 09:00 to 17:00 on Saturdays and from 09:00 to 14:00 on public holidays. It is closed on Sundays.

For a South African retail market that has spent the year competing hard for contract upgrades, the Comic Con stand is a straightforward play for the gaming and collector audience that turns up to the show with money to spend. The deal window running a week before the show and a week after it closes is the part worth watching, because it gives the promotion a life beyond the four days at the venue.
