SANDF wraps three days of war games as Exercise VUKUHLOME V formations battle for bragging rights
The defence force says its Clash of the Formations event drew spectators and built rivalry and esprit de corps among participants over three days of competition and activities.
The South African National Defence Force has closed out three days of Exercise VUKUHLOME V, its Clash of the Formations event, saying the programme gave participants more than competition and entertained spectators who turned out to watch.
In a post on its official X account on Thursday, the defence force said the past three days had brought a range of activities that gave participants a chance to relax and fostered healthy rivalry and esprit de corps.

The post was accompanied by four photographs from the event.
The SANDF did not say in the post where the exercise was held, which formations took part, or how the results were decided. It described the event in terms of what it offered those taking part and those watching rather than in terms of an outcome.
Exercise VUKUHLOME V is the name the defence force gives the gathering. Its stated purpose, in the force’s own words, is competition between formations, with rivalry and unit spirit counted among the returns.

The post did not give figures for spectators or participants, and it did not set out what comes next for the exercise.
