Navy chief tells Saldanha recruits discipline and teamwork are the job
Vice Admiral Monde Lobese met Military Skills Development System learners at the SAS Saldanha base, the SANDF said in a post carrying photographs from the visit.
The Chief of the South African Navy, Vice Admiral Monde Lobese, met Military Skills Development System learners at South African Ship Saldanha, where he pressed discipline, teamwork and pride in service on the recruits.
The SA National Defence Force announced the engagement in a post on X on 3 November, carrying four photographs from the visit.

SAS Saldanha is the navy’s training establishment on the West Coast, and the MSDS is the defence force’s entry scheme for young South Africans who train in a military discipline before qualifying into the uniformed services. Lobese’s message to the learners, as the defence force put it, centred on the standards expected of them once they pass through.
The post did not say how many learners attended, how far into their training they are, or whether the visit carried any announcement on intake numbers or placements.
