Malema votes in Seshego as EFF puts water, toilets and safe streets at the centre of its campaign
The party says its president will cast his ballot at 10h00 on Wednesday in Seshego, the township outside Polokwane where he grew up.
Julius Malema will cast his vote for the Economic Freedom Fighters in Seshego on Wednesday at 10h00, the party said in a post on its official X account.
The EFF framed the ballot around basic services rather than the party’s better-known positions on land and nationalisation. “We are voting for clean water, proper sanitation, and safe streets for this generation and the next,” the post reads, carrying the tags #VoteEFF2026 and #VictoryOrDeath alongside a photograph.
Seshego is the township outside Polokwane where Malema grew up, and it has been the setting for several of his most closely watched political moments. The party’s choice to announce his vote there, and to lead its message with water and sanitation, places service delivery in Limpopo at the front of its closing argument.
The post does not say which voting station he will use, what time the party expects him to arrive beyond the 10h00 stated, or what further campaigning is planned for the day. It also gives no detail on the water, sanitation or safety proposals behind the three demands, and no costing for them.
The EFF’s record on those three issues is a matter of public record that voters can weigh. The party runs municipalities in coalition in several metros and has held seats in the National Assembly since 2014. Its 2026 campaign has used service delivery language alongside its longstanding calls for land expropriation and state control of key sectors, positions it has put to voters in every election since its founding in 2013.
VictoryOrDeath is a slogan the party has used before, and it appears in the post as a hashtag rather than as a statement of policy.
