Two arrested over Pretoria East lease deal tied to 'Swati prince' claim
eNCA reports one suspect was taken into custody at 6am and that lawyers were called after he refused to hand over his devices.
Two people have been arrested in connection with a property lease agreement in the Pretoria East area, in a case that police sources say involves documents alleged to have been falsified.
The arrests were reported by eNCA, which said its sources identified the lease as one signed by Musiat Matala and his wife Zaki Matala. According to the broadcaster, one of the two individuals was arrested at 6am by members of the Harding police station, and Matala’s wife has also been arrested. Both are expected to be held at a police station in Pretoria.
The broadcaster’s sources said the two were implicated in the alleged falsification of documents forming part of the lease agreement, and that one of them is said to have identified himself as a Swati prince. Police are investigating, eNCA reported.
The home of one of those arrested was raided in June this year, according to the same reporting, and documents were sent from the property. On the morning of the arrest, one of the individuals did not want to hand his devices to law enforcement, and lawyers representing him had to be called to the police station.
eNCA described the matter as a developing story and said it would carry further updates on its channel.
No charges, court date or police statement confirming the arrests has been reported in the material available. The Enquirer has not independently verified the account and has not been able to establish further detail on the case.
