Special votes closed, but the DA says the ballot box is still open on Wednesday
The party's election-eve message tells voters approved for a special vote who missed the chance that they can still cast a ballot at their registered station on 4 November.
Special voting has closed and Election Day is on Wednesday, 4 November, with the Democratic Alliance using the eve of the poll to tell voters that anyone approved for a special vote who did not cast a ballot can still vote at their registered station.
The party’s message, posted on X, sets out three steps for voters: confirm your voting station, have your ID ready, and plan your trip to the polls. It also offers a WhatsApp line, 060 014 0305, for voters checking where they are registered.
The post closes on the party’s campaign line: “STOP THE CHAOS. START SERVICE DELIVERY.” It tells voters that every vote counts and that they have the power to ensure their town works for all.
The DA’s reminder does not set out the reasons a special vote might have been missed, and it gives no figure for how many approved applicants did not cast a ballot. The party’s advice is that Wednesday remains available to them at their own station.
For voters who applied for and were approved for a special vote, the practical instruction from the party is to check the station where they are registered before travelling, rather than assuming the special-vote arrangement carries over to a different venue.
