SAPS opens police recruitment to all South Africans aged 18 to 35, applications close 13 November
The service says the online drive, launched a day before the broadcast, is also a chance to bring in more recruits from racial groups it says are underrepresented in applications.
The police service has opened an online recruitment drive to all South Africans aged between 18 and under 35, with applications closing on 13 November, eNCA (YouTube) reported.
The drive began the day before the broadcast, leaving applicants roughly three and a half weeks to come forward.
Speaking in the report, a police representative said the service has seen over the years that people from what it calls underrepresented racial groups come forward to apply in smaller numbers. The same representative said the minister had previously noted that such candidates may also not meet all the requirements, or may fail during the various testing stages put to applicants.
The recruitment drive, in the service’s account, is also an opportunity to select suitably qualified young people from those underrepresented racial groups.
The call is to all South Africans in the age band, and the message from the service is that young people should step forward and apply during this phase.
Applicants have until 13 November. The broadcast did not set out the requirements, the testing stages or the number of places available. The source report is at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DEir5_hHmEU.
