Ramaphosa tours ANC vote-counting rooms as Ekurhuleni votes come in
The ANC says its president visited the regional operations centre in Ekurhuleni and the national centre at Chief Albert Luthuli House to check vote data and push final voter turnout.
The ANC says its president, Cyril Ramaphosa, spent part of local government election day inside two of the party’s operations centres, one regional and one national, checking how vote data was being consolidated and urging supporters to get to the polls.
The party posted its account on its official X account on Wednesday, describing the visits as a check on the consolidation of vote data and a final push to mobilise voters.
Ramaphosa visited the regional operations centre in Ekurhuleni and the national operations centre at Chief Albert Luthuli House, the party’s Johannesburg headquarters, according to the post.
The party framed the day under the slogan “Let’s build better communities together”, alongside the hashtags #VoteANC2026 and #MyVoteIsANC.
The post is the ANC’s own description of the president’s movements and gives no figures on turnout, results or the state of the count in Ekurhuleni or elsewhere. It also does not say what the consolidated data showed at the time of the visits.
Both centres are party structures rather than electoral commission facilities, and the ANC’s account describes the purpose as internal, checking its own data and mobilising its own supporters.
The party has not said when it expects to comment on the outcome of the count.
