Police hunt ten suspects after Moletlane restaurant robbery kills one
A Saturday night robbery in Limpopo left one man dead and two wounded, and the police say a dedicated team is following every lead.
SABC News reports that police are searching for about ten suspects after an armed robbery at a restaurant in Moletlane, outside Polokwane in Limpopo, on Saturday left one person dead and two injured.
According to the account, a group of armed suspects entered the restaurant and robbed customers of roughly 13 cellphones and an undisclosed amount of cash.
Limpopo police spokesperson Malesela Ledwaba said the suspects fired shots during the robbery, wounding three men. One of the three later died of his injuries in hospital.
Ledwaba said the suspects fled in a white Isuzu bakkie that belonged to one of the victims. The vehicle was later found abandoned on a road near a lodge not far from the restaurant and was recovered.
A manhunt is under way
The South African Police Service said in a statement on X that officers in Moletlane, in the Capricorn District, have launched an intensive manhunt for the suspects, who remain at large. Detectives are following up on leads to identify and arrest those responsible.
The police have asked anyone with information to come forward, and the investigation is continuing.
