The mineral and petroleum resources committee is due to take up five years of financial statements and a SAPRE feasibility study, but the Parliamentary Monitoring Group page for the meeting carries no agenda detail.

Five years of financial statements for PetroSA, the Strategic Fuel Fund and IGAS, together with a SAPRE feasibility study, are listed for a meeting of Parliament’s portfolio committee on mineral and petroleum resources, according to the Parliamentary Monitoring Group page for the meeting.

That page is the whole of the public record available here. It carries no minutes, no resolutions, no presentation slides and no findings. It records a meeting listing and the members down to attend it, and nothing further.

The members listed as present are Mr M G Mahlaule, the chairperson, Ms F Hassan, Mr J R Lorimer, Mr G Mantashe, Mr M Manyi, Ms P S Mgcina, Ms N H Mhlongo, Ms M L Mofokeng, Mr L D Selepe, Ms M M Senne and Mr S Zondi.

Access to this committee meeting report, and to the reports of twelve other National Assembly committees, is restricted on the PMG site. Non-government and community-based organisations and public education institutions are exempt from the subscription fee and may log in with an address that identifies their affiliation. Business, government and other users are directed to subscribe.

The other restricted committees are Communications and Digital Technologies, Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Defence and Military Veterans, Electricity and Energy, Employment and Labour, Finance Standing Committee, Health, International Relations, Justice and Constitutional Development, Police, Trade, Industry and Competition, and Transport.

That restriction is the reason this report is a short one. The financial statements of the three entities, the feasibility study and whatever the committee did with them are not set out on the page. The Enquirer cannot state figures, conclusions or decisions that the source does not contain, and will not.

What the listing does establish is that the committee’s agenda included the accounts of two state-owned entities in the fuel and energy space and a feasibility study, and that the meeting was constituted with the chairperson and ten members. Whether the statements were tabled, interrogated, adopted or deferred is not recorded in the material available.
