Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi cast his vote at Thuto Ke Maatla Secondary School in Thembisa, his office said on Wednesday.

The Gauteng Provincial Government announced the Premier’s voting station on its official X account, telling residents that “every vote counts in shaping the future of our communities and municipalities” and urging them to “go out and vote”.

The post was tagged to the 2026 local government elections and carried the province’s #GrowingGautengTogether slogan alongside a photograph.

The province’s message put the emphasis on turnout, framing the ballot as the point at which residents decide who runs their municipalities.

Voting for the country’s local councils was under way, with the Premier’s own trip to the polls presented by his office as an example for Gauteng residents to follow.
