Khayelitsha teacher Andisiwe Jobela, 27, missing since Tuesday morning

A 27 year old Khayelitsha teacher and mother of a one year old baby has been missing since Tuesday morning, when she left her home in Kuyasa in an e hailing vehicle for the school where she teaches.

Andisiwe Jobela was last seen wearing a denim shirt and denim pants. As IOL reported on 16 September, she signed the register at Bulumko High School at 7.50am that morning, and the principal saw her at the school and then saw her leaving the gate. Most of her colleagues did not see her at all.

That is the last confirmed sighting of her.

Her family has been awake since Tuesday. Her relative, Ayanda Jobela, said the household has had no word and no location shared, and that the silence is out of character.

“She would not just leave because she has a small baby who is a year old,” Ayanda Jobela said.

What the family knows

The last contact was the trip itself. Andisiwe did not share her location with anyone while travelling, which is why the family has no pin to hand to investigators and no way of knowing which route the vehicle took or where the trip ended.

Ayanda Jobela said the family has also had to contend with false posts circulating online claiming that Andisiwe has been found.

“People are also spreading fake information online posting fake posts that she has been found which is not true,” she said. “She is still missing.”

The family has asked the public to stop circulating unverified information, and to come forward with anything they actually know.

Anyone with information about Andisiwe Jobela’s whereabouts should take it to SAPS, or to the family through the channels they have opened, and should give it to a police officer rather than to a timeline.
