EFF's Omphile Maotwe hits the Tshwane streets for a final hour of campaigning
The party's official X account says its incoming Tshwane mayor is on a last push through the city, with the clock running down.
The Economic Freedom Fighters says its incoming Tshwane mayor, Omphile Maotwe, spent the last hour of the campaign on the streets of the capital, in what the party described as a final push for votes.
In a post on its official X account, the party wrote: “The EFF Incoming Mayor of Tshwane, Commissar @OmphileMaotwe, embarking on the final push through the streets of Tshwane.”
The party urged supporters to use the remaining time. “Let’s go, let’s fight! We have only one hour left, and a lot can happen in an hour. Let’s make every minute count!” it wrote, tagging the post #VoteEFF2026 and #VictoryOrDeath.
The post presents Maotwe as the party’s incoming mayor of Tshwane, a claim the EFF makes as its own campaign position. The post does not set out the party’s Tshwane manifesto, its council numbers or any detail of what an EFF-run city would do first.
What the party is asking for is plain from the post. It wants Tshwane voters to turn out for the EFF, and it is framing the closing hour of the campaign as decisive. What it is against is not spelled out in this post beyond the campaign’s general call to fight.
The EFF’s record in Tshwane and its wider positions on land, municipal services and immigration are not addressed in the material supplied here. This report is limited to what the party published on its official account.
