EFF's Godrich Gardee votes in Mbombela as party pitches road and service repairs
The EFF deputy president casts his ballot at a Lutheran church in West Acres on Wednesday morning, with the party tying its local campaign to roads and infrastructure in Mbombela.
Economic Freedom Fighters deputy president Godrich Gardee casts his vote at 09:00 on Wednesday, 4 November 2026, at the Lutheran Church in Percy Fitzpatrick, West Acres, Mbombela.
The party announced the voting details on its official X account, where it also set out what it says the election is for in the city.
The EFF says it is committed to fixing infrastructure in Mbombela so that communities have access to quality roads, reliable services and the infrastructure needed to improve their lives. Those are the party’s stated positions, published in its own campaign material under the tags #VoteEFF2026 and #VictoryOrDeath.
Gardee’s polling station sits in West Acres, a Mbombela suburb, and the party’s message to voters there and across the city is built around municipal delivery rather than a national argument: roads, services and the basic infrastructure residents rely on.
The post did not set out costings, timetables or specific projects the party would pursue if it won control of the municipality, and it gave no detail beyond the commitment itself. The Enquirer has not independently verified the party’s delivery claims or its record in the city.
Voting in Mbombela is under way, with Gardee among the first of the party’s senior figures to be seen at the polls.
