EFF tells voters there is no middle ground and calls itself the only party fighting for the poor
The party's official X account urged supporters to vote EFF in the 2026 local government elections, under the slogan Victory or Death.
The Economic Freedom Fighters has told voters there is no middle ground in the fight for economic freedom, and has claimed in its own words to be the only party brave enough to fight for the working class, the poor and the marginalised.
The statement was carried on the party’s official X account on Wednesday, alongside a call to vote for the EFF in the 2026 local government elections and the hashtag Victory or Death. The post carries a photograph from the party.
The message is a straightforward closing argument rather than a policy announcement. It sets the party’s claim to the working-class vote against an implied field of rivals it does not name, and it asks supporters to translate that claim into a ballot in the local government elections.
It also repeats the party’s long-standing framing of South African politics as a contest between economic freedom and everything short of it. In the post’s terms, the choice on offer to voters has no room for a compromise position.
The EFF has campaigned on the redistribution of land, the nationalisation of mines and the central bank, and expanded state provision of housing, electricity and water. Those positions are attributed to the party and are not findings of this publication.
The post does not set out any new commitment, name any candidate or ward, or give a date for a campaign event. It is a call to vote, made in the party’s own voice, with the election as its only stated purpose.
