DA works the queues as special voting enters day two
The party says its teams are on the ground checking in with voters and posting updates as South Africans cast special votes ahead of election day.
The Democratic Alliance says its teams are on the ground for the second day of special voting, checking in with voters and posting updates as South Africans cast their ballots ahead of election day.
The party’s official X account carried the message on Tuesday morning, alongside four photographs from the campaign. It asked voters who have already cast a special vote to show their election ink, share a photograph of their inked thumb, tag the party and use the hashtag #ElectionInk2026.

Special voting allows registered voters who cannot reach their voting station on election day, including the elderly, people with disabilities and those working on the day, to cast their ballots earlier. The Independent Electoral Commission administers the process and publishes the timetable and the list of participating stations.
The DA’s post did not give figures for turnout, name the stations its teams are visiting, or say how many voters it had spoken to. It offered no account of conditions at voting stations.
The party is using the two days to keep its supporters visible and talking online, with the inked-thumb photograph doing the work of a public endorsement. Whether that translates into votes is what the count will show.
