DA thanks special voters as it pushes for a strong turnout on Wednesday
The party's leader, Geordin Hill-Lewis, thanked residents, activists and voters who backed the DA during special voting, and urged supporters to carry that support into polling day on 4 November.
The Democratic Alliance has thanked residents, activists and voters who backed the party during special voting, and is urging its supporters to carry that support into Wednesday, 4 November.
In a post on X, the party said its leader, Geordin Hill-Lewis, had recorded a message of thanks to everyone who turned out for the DA during the special voting period. The party framed the early support as momentum behind its pitch that, with backing at the ballot box, it can get more towns and cities working.
The DA’s closing message is built around service delivery. “Stop the chaos. Start service delivery. Vote DA,” the party said, presenting the election as a choice about whether local government functions for the people who live under it.
Special voting allows registered voters who cannot get to their polling station on election day to cast a ballot earlier. The party did not release figures for how many people voted DA during the special voting period in the post.
The DA is asking voters to repeat that support on Wednesday, describing the election as a chance to “build a South Africa that works for all”.
What the party has not said, in the post, is how it will deliver the services it is promising, or which towns and cities it expects to win. Those questions will be settled by the count.
