DA makes its pitch for every last vote before Wednesday's local elections
The party says closely contested council seats can turn on a handful of ballots and is urging supporters to vote DA on all ballots when polls open on 4 November.
The Democratic Alliance has made its final pitch to voters ahead of Wednesday’s local elections, telling South Africans that council seats across the country can be decided by a handful of votes and that those seats decide who governs towns and cities.
In a post on X on Monday, the party said closely contested wards are within reach of small shifts in turnout, and it urged supporters to turn out on 4 November and to vote DA on all ballots.
The party’s message is built around service delivery, with the post calling on voters to “Stop the chaos. Start service delivery.” It framed the election as a choice about who runs local government rather than a national referendum.
The DA’s appeal rests on its claim that individual ballots carry weight in tight contests. The party did not, in the post, name specific municipalities or wards where it expects close results.
Polls open on Wednesday, 4 November.
