Businessman Imran Bat says he has written to a commission of inquiry and is available to appear at any time, after an eNCA broadcast in which he was accused of drug trafficking and human trafficking and in which he accused Shadrack Sibiya of extortion and corruption.

The accusations were exchanged in the interview published by eNCA (YouTube) on 22 September 2026. Bat denied the characterisation of him put to him during the interview and said he holds evidence of his own.

Bat told the interviewer that a complaint he laid in 2015 against Sibiya, alleging extortion and corruption, was somehow withdrawn. He said that during that process Sibiya came to his home accompanied by what he described as bogus police and an official, and that he has witnesses and written affidavits placing Sibiya at the scene.

He further alleged that Sibiya collected R1 million in cash from a Pakistani gangster to have him killed.

Put to him that Sibiya had described him as a notorious individual involved in alleged drug trafficking and human trafficking and had said there was a strong case against him, Bat said he had written to the commission and would make himself available whenever it wanted him. He said he has all the evidence.

Bat also named a man he referred to as Ali, saying he is wanted in this country on nine cases including rape, extortion, kidnapping and human trafficking, and that he was sentenced in seven cases to terms of 15 years, 12 years and 7 years. He said the man was assisted in getting bail and in leaving the country, and that he is now in Zambia, where he was arrested two years ago with 37 stolen cars, and was released on bail.

None of these claims has been tested. No finding has been made against Bat or against Sibiya, and the transcript of the broadcast does not record a response from Sibiya to Bat’s allegations, or any confirmation of the status of Bat’s 2015 complaint or of his correspondence with the commission.
