Bafana Sindane asks court to block his commission testimony
The application challenges how the Mpumalanga organised crime unit extracted and handed over information from his devices.
Bafana Sindane has brought an application to interdict his hearing or testimony before the commission of inquiry, according to reporting by eNCA (YouTube).
The application challenges the manner in which information was extracted from his devices by the Mpumalanga Organised Crime Unit, and how that information was handed to the commission’s task team. Sindane’s position, as set out in the broadcast, is that the material cannot be used to question him when he appears.
According to those close to his camp, he is currently not medically fit to appear before the commission or to continue with his testimony.
He also wants time to prepare for a case scheduled for 20 October this year. In that matter, his co-accused, Joe Ferreira, Sibanyoni and others, have been released on bail of about R70 000, facing a number of serious charges.
eNCA described the matter as a developing story and said it was continuing to gather information on what Sindane’s legal team might do next.
