ActionSA tells South Africans to turn out in numbers as voting day gets under way

The party used its official X account on Wednesday to call on every eligible voter to cast a ballot for change, without naming the contest or the wards in its four photographs.

ActionSA marked the opening of voting day with a short message on its official X account, telling South Africans that the polls are open and that every eligible voter should use them.

The post, published on Wednesday, opened with the words “Voting Day Is Underway!” and said South Africans were “heading to the polls today to make their voices heard and shape the future of their communities.”

The party’s appeal was direct. It called on “every eligible voter to exercise their democratic right, turn out in numbers and vote for change,” and closed on the line that “the future of our communities is in our hands. Every vote counts!” The post carried the hashtag #VoteActionSA and four photographs supplied by the party.

The message is pitched at communities rather than at a single contest. ActionSA’s public case, as the post puts it, is that the day belongs to voters who want change, and its ask is for turnout rather than for a particular ward or municipality. The post does not name a province, a metro or a voting district, and it does not set out a policy promise beyond the call to vote.

What the party is for, in its own words here, is participation and change at community level. The post does not say what it is against, and it makes no claim about rivals, about the conduct of the vote or about the expected result.

ActionSA has built its public profile as a party that contests urban wards and metros and that campaigns on service delivery, immigration enforcement and clean local government. Its supporters will read Wednesday’s message as a final push for turnout. Readers looking for the party’s positions on those subjects will not find them in this post, which is a get-out-the-vote appeal and nothing more.

The Enquirer has not independently verified turnout figures for the day and the post carries none. No result, projection or claim about the outcome appears in the material.
