ACDP thanks voters as IEC counts, says agents are guarding every ballot

The party says its agents are on the ground to protect votes while results are captured, and that it waits "in peace".

The African Christian Democratic Party has thanked everyone who voted in yesterday’s local government elections and said its agents are on the ground “ensuring every vote is protected” while the Electoral Commission of South Africa captures the results.

In a post on its official X account, the party said it was waiting for the count “in peace, trusting in God’s sovereignty over our municipalities”, citing Proverbs 16:33. It closed with “God bless SA!” and the hashtags #LGE2026 and #ACDP.

The statement is a position of the party’s own making rather than a report of a verified irregularity. The party did not, in the post, allege any specific problem with the count, name any voting district, or say that it had lodged a complaint with the IEC. Its claim is that its party agents are present and watching the process.

The post gives no figures, no turnout estimate and no indication of how the party expects to perform. The IEC is still capturing results.

On the substance, the ACDP is presenting itself as a party that contests elections through the ballot and the count, and that places its confidence in prayer as well as in its agents. That is the position it has put to the public, and it is the position the record of this post supports.
