ACDP tells voters still in the queue to stay put as polls close at 9 PM
The party's official X account urged anyone still waiting to remain in line and invited supporters to a live Election Day countdown broadcast.
The African Christian Democratic Party used its official X account on Wednesday to tell voters still waiting in line as polling stations approached the 9 PM close that they should not leave, stating that anyone in the queue would be allowed to vote.
“Voting stations close at 9 PM sharp,” the party posted. “If you are still in the queue, do not leave, you will be allowed to vote.”
The same message invited supporters who had already voted to join a live broadcast counting down the final minutes of Election Day 2026, framed in the party’s own language of faith and hope as the municipal vote drew to a close.
“Let’s stand together in faith and hope as we wrap up this crucial day for our municipalities,” the post read, linking to the livestream and tagging it with the party’s election hashtags.
The ACDP contests municipal elections on a platform rooted in its Christian democratic identity, and the party’s closing-day message stayed within that register, addressing voters in the language of faith rather than policy detail. The post did not set out specific municipal promises or make claims about the party’s performance.
The statement that voters in the queue at 9 PM would be permitted to vote is the party’s own account of the rule. The Enquirer has not independently confirmed the position with the Electoral Commission.
With polls closing, attention turns to the count, and the party’s own livestream is where its supporters were directed to follow the result.
